Last Friday, the Washington Post editorialized the White House had a
"legitimate interest" in discrediting Joe Wilson.
I ask you to concentrate on this for one moment. The Post says it was legitimate to discredit Joe Wilson. To smear him. To hurt him. To damage him.
What is their justification for rationalizing a smear campaign against a public servant? Let's set the record straight:
Joe Wilson told the truth about Saddam Hussein and nuclear weapons. We know, with 100% certainty, he told the truth. There was no reconstituted nuclear weapons program. It did not exist. Inarguably. Undeniably.
George Bush, and the Washington Post editorial page, lied, incessantly, about Saddam Hussein and nuclear weapons. They didn't simply "misspeak"- they were informed by Joe Wilson, Hans Blix, and many in the CIA that there was no reconsituted nuclear program in Iraq. They lied. Inarguably. Undeniably.
And yet, to this day, the Washington Post brazenly refers to this lying as "legitimate." The Post is in fact telling us it is in posession of inside knowledge that continues to rationalize all that has happened, despite our knowing their stated reasons for the war were all lies.
